MATERNITY LEAVE


1. PURPOSE:

 1.1 To provide information and guidelines concerning the application and approval of requests    for maternity leave of Island Home Health Care.

2. POLICY:

 2.1 A married female staff will be granted a total 45 calendar day’s maternity leave with pay.    The 45 calendar day period includes the periods before and after delivery.
 2.2 Applies to UAE Nationals and those employed on “married” contracts. During the 18    months following delivery, the employee will be entitled to two (2) daily intervals, not to    exceed half hour each, for the purpose of feeding her child. The two (2) intervals will be    considered part of regular working hours and no deduction in salary will be made.

3. DEFINITION:

4. PROCEDURE:

 4.1 If an employee chooses to resign due to pregnancy, all benefits for which the employee    would be eligible will be paid based on the policies existing at the time of resignation.
 4.2 If for any reason an employee is unable to return from maternity leave, they may resign    from their position. Such position will be considered vacant and a Replacement recruited.
 4.3 Requests for maternity leave must be submitted on a leave request form with the approval    of the Human Resources.
 4.4 The staff can club their maternity leave along with the annual leave if eligible. The
   maximum a staff can avail in cases where desirable is for 75 days only.

5. RESPONSIBILITY:

 5.1 Human Resources will monitor & communicate this policy effectively to all Island Home    Health Care staff and employees.
